Distributed Gap Wound Cores
Distributed gap wound cores – also known as DG Cores – are popular in the distribution transformer industry, especially in single phase units where transformer no-load losses close to the intrinsic loss of the steel are possible.
They offer excellent performance with the added benefit of a very simple clamping structure and assembly process, often utilizing 75% fewer components than an equivalent stacked core. Therefore, the time taken to assemble a core is dramatically reduced.
DG cores are generally best suited to transformer designs with rectangular windings. Cogent has test capability as well as full traceability back to the point of origin.
